What else can be done to help my sight?
Have your eyes checked regularly. Everyone should have a check every two years and they are free if you are over 60 years of age.
People over the age of 40 years are also entitled to a free sight test every year if they have a close family member (parent, child or sibling) who has been diagnosed with glaucoma. People who have been advised by an ophthalmologist that are at risk of glaucoma are entitled to a free sight test.
Eye examinations are also free for everyone in Scotland.
At the moment, specialists hope to make sure that glaucoma is detected early so that people suffer no loss or no further loss of vision.
